ARTIST WANTS A LIFE was a camp and arts lab run by and for artists. Open to practicing contemporary artists of any form or discipline AWAL took  place in the central deserts of the Northern Territory from the 20th of April to 3rd of May 2011.

A total of ten artists were selected to participate in this event, including five artists based in Central Australia and five from elsewhere in Australia.

The purpose of the lab was to create a dialogue between regional/remote artists and urban artists, examine collaboration, and create opportunities for artistic relationships to be formed across the geographic divide.
